Fellow Loggers,

It's been a slow start to the 2017 Competition year with wild weather, dirty water, and not a lot of quality waves, so it was great to see clean walling right-handers rolling down the Flat Rock point at the last comp.  For those who weren't there - YOU MISSED IT! Sadly we don't have any pictures to make you even more jealous, so you'll just have to take our word for it.  The Flattie banks are on!  See the Captains report for all the results.

The May Social event at Captain Frank's Coast@Lennox Cafe was a huge night. Combining our social night and Jan's 60th birthday made for a fun turnout of members and friends at the popular Lennox Head cafe.  See the gallery in the Social Report for all the pictures.

Captain's Report

We held our May point-score competition round in clean small waves at Flat Rock last Sunday. It was just another day in paradise with offshore winds, sunshine, 2 to 3 foot surf, and great banks producing fun long-board waves.

It is always difficult to run an event when the conditions are so good because everyone is frothing. Despite the large crowd of free-surfers we managed to get through all the heats without any injuries or arguments. Thanks again to all the crew who make this possible and to Bob and Bruce for the after-competition lunch.

Vice President's Report

Well after postponing the April Comp weren’t  we blessed with a great Autumn day the sun was shining, slight offshore breeze, up to shoulder height waves running through from the point and a good turn up of members. You couldn’t have asked for a better day to be holding  the comp. It was good to see a few old faces turn up as well. The comp ran extremely well thanks to the handy work of Ed and backed up by  Stevie W great job guys. This year I have noticed that the comps seem to run smoothly with additional  items purchased by the club to make life easier for all. Bob thanks for stepping in and organising lunch as well good on your mate.

On another note to those that are interested in clothing please return your forms at the next comp or email the club secretary your requirements so we can push ahead and place the order. Concerning payment you need to pay on the day you receive your order.

The Wrecks  & Relics comp is coming up in June and I know a few members do the annual pilgrimage to Noosa for a social event over the weekend so I hope to see a few of you there.

Another event in June is the “I Love Lennox” surfboard swap meet which I hope is supported by the club it seems it may not happen if we can’t get any help with organising it. If you’re interested in helping out on the day just send me an email. To those that may have a few boards they want sell bring them down on the day or if you have that classic you would like to share please do so.

See you all at Retro Surf Social at Coast@Lennox cafe with the loudest clothing you have.

Keep safe and enjoy the ride. Cheers, Bruce

Social Report

Our May social outing at Captain Frank's Cafe@Lennox was a huge hit with a great turnout of members and their partners. The crowd was boosted by more of Jan's friends to celebrate her 60th birthday in style.

It was a great night with heaps of tasty food and lots of lively chat. Brian Delaney won the best retro dress and Col Harper was runner up. Margie Bryant won the ladies best retro look.

Check out all the pics in the following gallery.

Our next social event is the Noosa Wrecks & Relics surf comp on 11th, 12th and 13th June. I'm told the comp is booked out so if you haven't already booked you're too late. The following event is Xmas in July on 8th July, no details yet but we'll provide more information closer to the event.

Missing In Action

The absence of our Risk Manager and 2017 committee member at recent committee meetings and comp rounds has prompted the VP to post this advert in the Newsletter this month. If anyone sees Col ask him to call home!
